Overview

To support Indigenous students that are ineligible for government accommodation funding or other forms of financial support, with accommodation (rental) costs and thereby enable them to complete undergraduate or postgraduate study at UTS.

Who is eligible?

 To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must be:

  • Of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide either: 
    • a Confirmation of Aboriginality from a Local Aboriginal Land Council or other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or 
    • a UTS Statutory Declaration form accompanied by two written references from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from the applicant’s community who can confirm their identity and are not an immediate family member; and
  • First apply for ABSTUDY and Residential Costs Option (RCO) payments, if not approved by Centrelink then provide evidence that the application was unsuccessful; and
  • Be admitted into a UTS undergraduate (including Honours) or postgraduate course (by coursework or research and Unistart program; and
  • Be intending to enrolled or be enrolled full-time (minimum of 18 credit points in Autumn and Spring sessions) in an eligible course at UTS; and
  • Be residing, or intending to reside, in Yura Mudang Housing; and
  • Apply online using the UTS Scholarships Application Form.
  • Must provide the last three (3) months of bank statements to be assessed for the meal allowance as per the RCO requirements.

Selection process

Not applicable, as this is not a competitive scholarship. Eligibility criteria will be used to identify and select all recipients. To discuss your eligibility and to apply for this scholarship please contact Jumbunna.
