Jobs for UTS journalism graduates with Guardian Australia in regional NSW and QLD
Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, Guardian Australia, and the UTS Centre for Media Transition (CMT) are working together on a project to increase news coverage of rural and regional Australia. This project includes Guardian Australia building a rural and regional network, aided by UTS journalism graduates appointed for
one-year postings.
These graduates will be employed by Guardian Australia (not UTS), and will be located and embedded in small- to medium-sized newsrooms of independent media in rural and regional centres. They will report to the Rural Network editor, Gabrielle Chan, as well as file approximately two stories per week to the local paper where they are embedded, as directed by the local editor or their representative.
CMT will conduct research into the impact of this and other rural and regional reporting on state and national political and economic debate, and models which may be financially viable to better ensure representation of rural and regional issues in mainstream media.
The next roles in Cowra, NSW and Warwick, QLD will be commencing in August 2023 and applications for these two positions are open now!
