Research contributions to forensic science, Aboriginal Land Rights, understanding Parkinson’s, the Australian legal database, tackling auto-immune diseases, as well as the technical leadership of the UTS Data Arena, were among the achievements honoured at the sixth annual UTS Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Research Excellence on Thursday 15 October.
“The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and excellence of UTS research,” said Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Glenn Wightwick. “They reflect our research talent and impact right across UTS, from our early career researchers through to those recognised as research leaders in their disciplines.”
The top accolade – the Chancellor’s Medal for Exceptional Research – was awarded to Eureka Prize recipient, Professor Dacheng Tao from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT).
Professor Tao expressed his appreciation to QCIS, the School of Software, FEIT and UTS “for providing a marvellous platform to develop my research”, and to his collaborators and students.
