An update from Kylie Readman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) on the latest changes across UTS.

UTS has released implementation plans to improve how the university operates, as first announced in October last year as part of our Operational Sustainability Initiative (OSI).

This initiative will ensure the sustainable, long-term success of the University and allow us to continue to invest in our students, our teaching and our research that benefits our community.

To remain financially sustainable, this initiative has involved difficult decisions resulting in some job losses. As these decisions have been made, we’ve maintained our objective of improving services and support for students.

What this means for students

  • Work has begun on transforming our curriculum. We are enhancing our existing curriculum, including strengthening our assessment approach to improve your learning experience. We will progressively introduce a range of new and revitalised courses for future students.
  • We’ll be launching a new Student Connect service to streamline our counter, telephone and online services to students.
  • We’re updating policies and processes in collaboration with student leaders to make them simpler and easier to navigate.
  • We’re investing in a range of existing and new academic learning services to support your academic success, including access to a range of digital tools, to help you succeed in your studies and prepare for your future career.

The University’s new operating model means we’ll be working to support more consistent and connected services and deliver a more personalised student experience to you over the months and years ahead.

We’ll share more on these initiatives with you before any major changes are introduced.
