This year’s International Women’s Day theme is ‘Give to Gain’. We’re highlighting the groups already supporting female-identifying staff and students across campus.

Women and Non-Binary People in STEM (WXSTEM)

WXSTEM is a club that aims to connect and empower women and gender-diverse individuals across the STEM field.

WXSTEM believes in fostering a supportive community that thrives on uplifting and celebrating others – an ethos that guides their commitment to advancing equity and excellence across the STEM field.

Through industry exposure and peer-to-peer connection, the club aims to create a supportive and empowering network of future industry leaders.

To celebrate International Women's Day, they will be hosting a picnic at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and a Breaking Barriers panel event that highlights the real-world experiences of women in STEM industries.

Women in Business (WiB)

Women in Business is a club that seeks to empower, challenge and forge success for the next generation of female leaders.

They champion social, professional and philanthropic initiatives that equip members with the confidence, skills and networks needed to thrive in their personal and professional journeys.

In 2025, WiB was recognised with the prestigious ActivateUTS ‘Club of the Year’ Major Award.

This year, they will be co-hosting their annual International Women’s Day Breakfast themed ‘Leave a Ladder.’ Students will have the opportunity to network with representatives from leading global organisations, listen to inspiring women panellists and build connections with like-minded young women across Sydney.

Women in Business also hosts:

  • Sponsorship Speed Dating, connecting students with sponsor representatives through round-table discussions
  • Spring Luncheon, celebrating the achievements of the past year
  • Autumn Mentoring Program, pairing new students with experienced peers
  • Spring Mentoring Program, mentoring students with industry professionals
  • NextGen Program, supporting professional development through CV workshops, mock interviews and workplace skills sessions

Beyond events and programs, WiB produces a monthly bulletin and student-run podcast, WiB Talks, to keep its community connected and informed year-round.

Women’s Collective (WoCo)

The Women’s Collective is the UTS Students' Association’s organisation dedicated to feminism activism.

It brings together women across campus to advocate for gender equity, provide practical support and work to create intersectional social change.

WoCo fosters connection among students from diverse backgrounds while creating opportunities for engagement, discussion, and collective action.

"The Women’s Collective works to support and serve female and non-binary identifying individuals through a variety of initiatives, including panels and networking events, book clubs, social events, campaigns and volunteering opportunities," says 2026 UTS Women’s Officer,
Francesca Harrison. "Together, these efforts foster connection and empowerment, creating meaningful opportunities for personal, academic, and professional growth."

One of the ways the Women’s Collective works to support students is through the Free Period Products Campaign. Established in 2023, the campaign is a collaboration between the UTSSA, the Respect.Now.Always team, ActivateUTS and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education and Students) Professor Kylie Readman to ensure all UTS students have access to essential hygiene products on campus.

Locations for free period products on campus can be found on the Women’s Collective Instagram.

Women in Sport

Looking to get active? Women in Sport offers a supportive way to build confidence and community through movement.

This program is designed for female-identifying students who are looking to get into (or back into) regular physical activity. There are a bunch of classes to choose from, including self-defence, volleyball, tennis, hip hop, basketball and more. The classes are scheduled at different times throughout the year so make sure to check out which ones will work for you.
