UTS celebrates the achievements of its academics, alumni, and associates whose dedication to public good and leadership have been recognised in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours.

UTS Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Andrew Parfitt congratulated the recipients, noting their significant contributions across fields including social justice, health, media, sport and the arts. 
 
“The King’s Birthday Honours once again highlight the profound impact that members of the UTS community have in shaping a better future for Australia and beyond,” Professor Parfitt said.

“Their commitment to excellence, equity and innovation exemplifies the values we champion at UTS. We are immensely proud of their achievements and the inspiration they provide to our students, staff and partners.”

Professor Bronwen Dalton 

Professor Dalton, Head, Department of Management and Director of the Masters of Not-for-Profit and Social Enterprise Program at the UTS Business School, has been recognised as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her significant service to social advocacy, social justice academia, and charitable organisations. As a leader in the UTS Business School, she is known for her research and advocacy in the not-for-profit sector, advancing social equity and supporting vulnerable communities. 

Mrs Elaine Henry

Mrs Henry, is the Smith Family CEO and National Breast Cancer Foundation Chair and a member of the UTS Vice-Chancellor’s Industry Advisory Board from 2015 to 2021, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her significant service to youth and children, breast cancer research and screening, and board governance roles. Her leadership and advocacy have shaped policy and improved health outcomes for Australians, and her longstanding advisory role at UTS has strengthened links between the health sector and the university. 

 

The late Mr Matthew Peacock 

The late Mr Peacock, former Adjunct Professor of Journalism at UTS, has been posthumously recognised as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant service to broadcast media as a journalist. As an adjunct professor at UTS, he mentored aspiring journalists and championed investigative reporting, leaving a lasting legacy in Australian media and journalism education.

Ms Lyn Lewis-Smith 

Ms Lewis-Smith, Business Events Sydney CEO, has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to the tourism industry in New South Wales. A leader in business and innovation, her work has contributed to the growth and transformation of the state’s tourism sector. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the UTS Business School Advisory Board, Adjunct Professor, and Advisory Board Member, roles she has held for more than a decade, supporting the school’s mission to foster innovative, sustainable, and socially committed business education.

Ms Melissa Yeung 

Ms Yeung, president of the UTS Fencing Club, has received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to the sport of fencing. An accomplished competitor and coach, she has represented Australia at major international events, achieved multiple national and international titles, and actively supports the promotion of participation and excellence in fencing through her coaching and mentorship.

Professor Gerald Fogarty 

Professor Fogarty, Adjunct Professor at UTS and alumnus of the university, has been honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to medical research. As an adjunct professor, he has contributed to advances in health and medical science, supporting UTS’s mission to drive innovation and improve health outcomes. 

Dr John Coetzee 

Dr Coetzee, who holds an honorary doctorate from UTS, has been appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for eminent service to the arts, particularly literature, to literary studies, to tertiary education, and to animal welfare.  


The university also acknowledges the achievements of UTS alumni recognised in this year’s honours: Mr Malcolm Botfield OAM, Mr David Armstrong AM, Mr Mark Holton OAM, Mr Phillip Hazelton AM, Ms Grace Matts ESM OAM, and Ms Belinda Mackinnon PSM.

UTS congratulates all recipients and thanks them for their contribution to their fields, communities, and the university.
