Bachelor of Construction Project Management

About Nick

I grew up in Sydney in a family of four with a Taiwanese background. Outside of my studies and work, you can usually find me watching Formula 1 or catching up on whatever sport is on. One of the things on top of my bucket list is to travel to multiple countries and explore the various cultures.

I am currently in my fourth year studying Bachelor of Construction Project Management.

Why UTS?

I chose to study at UTS because I heard great things about the course and the university.

I heard that UTS was known for its strong industry connections and had a strong practical approach to learning with the 200-day industry requirement, which really appealed to me.

I’ve always enjoyed hands-on projects and practical work, particularly in woodwork. This naturally led towards a career in construction. Interestingly, no one else in my family has ever worked in construction, so they were quite surprised when I shared my ambition to pursue a career in this field!

I am currently the president of the UTS Built Environment Association; my role involves meeting with potential industry partners while leading and managing my team to organise events for our members. It’s a great experience despite all the work it involves behind the scenes, and I’ve developed a lot of skills through the roles.

I was fortunate to work closely with Taylor in 2021 on Built Environment Association events, which led to the opportunity to join as a construction Cadet; I’m currently on my third rotation at the Roseville College Swell Centre Project.

I also recently received the 12th University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS) in Bangkok, Thailand in August 2024.

What’s Next

I am a construction cadet with Taylor Construction on the Roseville College SWELL centre project. I work closely with my team to undertake various tasks such as contract administration, site engineering, and work health and safety.

I’d love to work and travel overseas in Europe. The construction industry there has tons of great opportunities, and the ease of travel is a huge plus.

My advice for incoming students would be to find a good group of students to work with throughout the degree as a lot of the work in this degree involves group work.
