UTS launches new Grad Certificate in Applied AI for Finance

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Business School has unveiled an innovative Graduate Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence for Finance, catering to the growing demand for professionals equipped with advanced skills at the intersection of finance and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This forward-thinking program aims to empower students with the expertise to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of finance enhanced by AI technologies.

The program, informed by insights from industry leaders and designed by academic experts, provides a comprehensive curriculum that covers key areas such as machine learning, data analytics, algorithmic trading, and risk management specific to the finance sector. Students will delve into the fascinating world of AI, exploring the concepts behind various cutting-edge Machine Learning methods, and how they are applied in finance. The program aims to build strong foundational knowledge of AI, equipping students to comprehend and engage with the evolving AI-driven financial landscape.

Associate Professor Vitali Alexeev, the program coordinator, expressed excitement about the launch, stating,

This program is a response to the evolving needs of the finance industry. The integration of Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the way financial institutions operate, and professionals need to be equipped with the right skills to thrive in this dynamic environment. Our Graduate Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence for Finance is tailored to provide exactly that.

The course is structured to accommodate both working professionals looking to upskill and recent graduates seeking to specialise in the intersection of finance and AI.

Dean of the UTS Business School, Professor Carl Rhodes, commented on the university's dedication to the responsible use of technology that supports a rapidly changing society.

We are proud to introduce this program, which aligns with our commitment to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies. As AI continues to transform the financial landscape, our graduates will be well-equipped to make meaningful contributions to the industry in a responsible way.

Applications for the Graduate Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence for Finance are now open, with the first cohort scheduled to commence in March 2024. Students interested in the program can find more information on the Graduate Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence for Finance course page or by attending the AI in Finance webinar on 16 January 2024.

According to a report from the World Economic Forum [140] AI will displace 75 million jobs and create 133 million new jobs leading to a net increase of 58 million new jobs by the year 2022 in the world economy. This is creating a career retraining and transition imperative.*

As the financial industry embraces the era of Artificial Intelligence, UTS' new program is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future generation of professionals at the intersection of finance and technology.
