Deep Green Biotech Hub will return to Splendour in the Grass Science Tent for a third time, bringing the love of algae to a weekend full of international performers, live music, interactive art and science.
DGBH team are Splendour in the Grass veterans, this year they're switching things up and bringing three of the 2023 Green Light Teams to share their passion and knowledge of algae with the attendees.
Aimed to spark conversation about the importance of startups and innovation in creating sustainable, climate solutions, the festival will allow the Green Light teams and DGBH staff to engage the general public in discussions about algae. With the huge success and engagement from 2019, and 2022 living lights installation, the Green Light team's interactive and visually engaging installations will demonstrate a broader range of algae incredible abilities, and amaze the festival goers when the sun goes down, and the algae lights shine through the night.
The Green Light Teams will have the opportunity to share their prototypes and innovative businesses with the general public outside the Science Tent and join an exciting lineup of science communicators and researchers.
The Science Tent brings science, in all its weird and whacky forms, into an interactive and fascinating experience at Splendour in the Grass, and attracts big names like Dr Karl, Adam Spender, drag queen Diva Attenbra and Wendy Zukemrman from the Science Vs podcast to be sharing their love of science with festival goers.

She is interested in all things living and decomposing, and for that reason has a healthy fear of fungi. |
Sunday 23rd July, 10:30 - 11:30AM | Climating Speakers: Dr Alex Thomson (she/her) is a marine ecologist, science communicator, and “Superstar of STEM”. Zoe Catterall (she/her/they) is a BBiomedSc and lead singer of Sydney band The Buoys. They have spent the majority of their career in the public health sector as a Hospital Scientist. Recently Zoe has joined the Young Henrys Brewing and Distilling lab team and is pursuing music on a more full-time basis. (Alumni) |
