UTS is committed to creating a working environment that is culturally inclusive and affirming for Indigenous people and encourages all elements of the UTS community to participate by taking a proactive approach to Indigenous employment.
Under the Wingara Indigenous Employment Strategy 2019-2023, each faculty and division has a target of achieving 3% Indigenous employment with the strategies to achieve these targets outlined in their Indigenous Employment Plans.
Currently we have 1.95% Indigenous employment with approximately 38 more Indigenous people to be employed to achieve the 3% target based on current staffing levels as at October 2022.
To increase the number of Indigenous employees at UTS, the Office of the PVC (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement), in partnership with the People Unit, launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) process in February this year.
Indigenous people joining the EOI program will have their expression of interest actively matched against suitable positions that may arise.
Progress has been positive so far with two Indigenous candidates already placed in roles at UTS and 17 Indigenous people registered through the EOI process (as at 9 September 2022) who are actively being matched to positions currently being recruited for.
To find out more about the EOI process and how you can increase Indigenous employment in your area, please get in touch with the Manager, Indigenous Employment via email.
Wyndam Lake, Indigenous Recruitment Consultant has also commenced with UTS in October 2022 to further support growing Indigenous employment.
