Before classroom icebreakers and the frantic rush to be on campus in time for your nine o’clock lecture, set aside some days to plan ahead and get excited for your first ever day of university! Here are our must-do’s, the need-to-know before your semester or trimester starts.

Take a tour of the UTS campus

Did you know you can go on the university tour from your bed? Yep! You don’t have to get out of your pyjamas to suss out the state of the art facilities, rooms and student amenities! Check out the 360° virtual tour where you can find the rooftop garden, central food court, gym, alumni green and student learning hub!

Orientation

Before your session commences, it’s a great idea to attend orientation–I would deem it essential. From meeting like-minded people that you’ll bump into on your first day (and throughout your time at uni), grasping what your lecturers and tutors are like and getting to know your way around campus, it’s an awesome way to get geed up for your new start!

Hello UTS O Week KPOP society

O’Week

Very similar to orientation but different agendas - O’Week is all about getting all the information you need about clubs, societies and everyone on campus. Plus, companies flogging their free subscriptions with food chains flogging free food? USB’s, merchandise, lollipops and other cool freebies? I’ll cop all of it, thanks.

UTS Library

The UTS Library

Suss out your study safe haven - the place you’ll be spending late nights and in-between-class-cram sessions in. From the Reading Room for quiet study, beanbag pods for a chill sesh, a flow of natural light, gorgeous outdoor areas and academic materials to save you during those study sessions, you’ll be spending a fair bit of time here. And strangely enough, you’ll enjoy it!

The unit handbook

Get the upper hand by checking the units you’ll be taught - it’ll give you a good indication on the textbooks you might need, the buildings you might be in and most importantly–the foundations that are setting you up for your future career!

Visit Spice Alley and Chinatown

For a bite to eat or to refuel in between classes, why not suss out the food joints available within minutes walk from campus?
