Congratulations to PhD Candidate Xiangfeng Xu (Renee) who was awarded the 2016 Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA) Research Grant from the CNSA on 17 January 2017, for her doctoral research project entitled 'Understanding cancer pain management experiences and needs of Chinese migrants in Australia: a mixed-methods study'.
The CNSA Research Grant Program aims to support the development of cancer nursing and facilitate research that will contribute to improvements in the care of people with cancer. Renee is a Registered Nurse of Australia and China and a current member of the CNSA. She is under guidance and supported by her supervision and/or the research team members of Professor Jane Phillips, Dr. Tim Luckett, Associate Professor Melanie Lovell and Professor Meera Agar.
Reneeās project is a mixed-methods study which focuses on Chinese migrant cancer outpatients in Australia to explore their perceptions of the influence of culture on their cancer pain management needs. The results will be used to inform development of cultural appropriated pain interventions for this population.
