In August the UTS Institute for Public Policy and Governance (UTS:IPPG) hosted a group of representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) as part of their international study tour to learn from Australia's experiences with continuing levels of excellence in its public administration and public service.
MOHA performs the function of state management in such areas as: organisation of state administrative agencies and public service agencies; local governments, administrative boundaries; state cadres, civil servants and public employees; training and retraining in public administration and state management; NGO’s; reward and recognition; religious affairs; state archives and clerical work; youth affairs; and state management of public services that fall under the mandate of MOHA as stipulated by laws.
With presentations over two days from the Institute’s Director A/Professor Roberta Ryan and from Sophi Bruce, Leadership Program Specialist, the delegation’s visit to UTS:IPPG focused on capacity building for public managers, leadership program design and contemporary teaching and training methods.
“The delegation were keen to learn about UTS’s approach to professional development and learning outcomes. We were pleased to be able to share with this delegation a sample of the extensive research and programs that the Institute for Public Policy and Governance undertake in the area of public sector capacity building to assist them in their strategic planning for the continuing professionalisation of the public sector in Vietnam,” Sophi Bruce said.
