Dr Xu will visit colleagues at the University of Joseph Fourier in June 2014 to advance research and student exchange opportunities, thanks to a travel grant awarded by the Embassy of France in Australia.
Further exchange activity will take place through the UTS-University of Joseph Fourier (UJF) Joint Research Centre for Data Science after the Embassy of France in Australia awarded a travel grant to AAi’s Dr Guandong Xu.
Dr Xu said the travel grant, awarded through the Embassy’s Scientific Mobility Program, will enhance the joint research activities by helping to further develop the joint PhD supervision program.
“The joint research centre was established in January this year to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration and the creation of best practice in the fields of data science and big data analytics,” Dr Xu said.
“My travel grant will allow me to spend time with my UJF colleagues to formally map out our priorities, especially around research and student exchange opportunities.”
Since the Joint Research Centre’s establishment, several PhD students from both institutions have joined the co-supervision program. Dr Xu, who coordinates AAi’s education program, will spend two weeks in June at UJF’s Laboratory of Informatics of Grenoble hosted by UJF’s Deputy Director Professor Eric Gaussier.
