By supporting a scholarship, you help unlock potential, remove barriers and create new possibilities.
Students like Jacob have plenty of potential, but not enough opportunity. You can change that.
"The scholarship has changed my life and made so much possible" - Jacob
On any spare evening in his busy week, Jacob is inventing something. It could be a racing droid, or a new kitchen gadget, or anything that involves taking an idea and making it a reality.
He has the space to do that, because he received a UTS equity scholarship.
Too many other talented students are missing out because there isn’t enough funding for scholarships.
You can help support a scholarship for the next student like Jacob.
"Money was a challenge"
When Jacob was eight years old, his father passed away, and everyone in the family had to pitch in. Money was a challenge, and Jacob started working from a young age. He wasn't sure how he'd make university work while still earning enough to support himself.
Like Jacob, many students who want to study at UTS know what financial hardship feels like.
Scholarships help students say yes to university, and complete their studies, and make the most of every opportunity.
Last year, more than 1,000 applicants missed out on a scholarship because there wasn’t enough funding.
When you give towards a UTS equity scholarship, every dollar goes directly to students:
- $50 contributes to weekly public transport costs to get to class.
- $100 helps pay for groceries for a week.
- $500 helps cover rent for a week.
- $1,000 provides essential study equipment like a laptop.
- $10,000 funds a whole scholarship for a year.
"You can help create possibility for another student like me by giving towards an equity scholarship."
