What happens at Orientation?
Your Faculty Welcome
Your Faculty Welcome is an essential activity to kick-start your journey at UTS.
Connect with academic staff and fellow first-year students in your course, learn about key support services and resources, and get everything you need to know about starting your degree. Hear from current students about their experiences and discover what’s unique about your faculty.
Campus tours
Navigate the UTS campus with confidence through guided tours that show you all the must-know locations. You will discover the best shortcuts, identify your faculty building, and be shown some of the great places you can eat on campus.

Uni prep sessions
Prepare for success with workshops on study skills, time management, and making the most of university resources. Sessions also cover career support, academic success strategies, financial assistance, enrolment, and timetabling.
Social events
Connect with fellow students, make lasting friendships, and feel at home at UTS through exciting activities like the BUILD Social Mixer, Speedfriending, Social Bingo, Wellbeing Lounge activities, and O’Day, where you can join clubs and societies.
Special interest activities
Explore activities that align with your passions, connect with like-minded students, and discover exciting opportunities at UTS through sessions like volunteering with UTS SOUL, exploring faith and spirituality, UTS Startups, and enhancing English conversation skills.

On the day
What to Bring
Here’s what you’ll want to have with you on the day: your UTS student number, which will come in handy for check-ins; a notebook or device to take notes during sessions; and a fully charged phone so you can access maps, schedules, and QR codes. Comfortable shoes are a must, as you’ll be walking around campus quite a bit. Don’t forget a water bottle to stay hydrated, and most importantly, bring your questions – whether they’re about your course, uni life, or anything else you’re curious about.
What to Expect
You’ll be greeted by Peer Networkers – current UTS students in bright orange shirts who are here to welcome and guide you.
Expect a friendly, supportive vibe from both staff and students.
At Clubs Day, you’ll find heaps of freebies, including food, merch, and info about student groups.
You’ll get to explore the campus, meet new people, and start feeling at home at UTS.
