The Women in Engineering and IT Co-op Scholarship is a cooperative education program between the University and sponsoring organisations. The aim of the program is to attract, retain and develop women in the fields of Engineering and Information Technology. The scholarship will identify high achieving female students that have a passion and interest to pursue a career in Engineering or IT. The scholarship will include three (3) industry placements as well as mentoring, networking, leadership and professional development opportunities.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be Female; and
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizens, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; and
- Be enrolled or intend to enrol in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice (or the equivalent course) in the session immediately commencing the award;
- Be a Recent School Leavers with ATAR (or equivalent) of 85 or above (excluding adjustment points); the Faculty may consider applicants whose ATAR falls in the range of 80 to 85 (excluding adjustment points) depending on their suitability of the Scholarship or current UTS Engineering students who’ve demonstrated suitability for the Scholarship (application via invitation subject to the availability of places); and
- All candidates must apply using the UTS online Scholarships Application form to be eligible; and
- All candidates must be available to attend an interview in person (online or face-to-face); and
- All candidates must complete all required steps in the selection process to be eligible (including but not limited to pre-offer information questionnaire).
Selection process
- Academic merit;
As demonstrated in the Scholarship application and interview:
o Interest in Engineering or IT and motivation to succeed in the UTS course;
o Initiative in extra-curricular and non-academic activities;
o Motivation to support and represent women in engineering and IT;
o Other suitability criteria for the scholarship program as determined by the Selection Committee, including but not limited to commitment, professionalism and engagement.

Promising applicants will be shortlisted and invited for interviews in final week of September or first week of October 2025.

Please note:
Recipients are required to be enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice (or the equivalent course), and complete three industry placements:
- one in the first year (3 months over summer session from Nov - Feb)
- one in the second year (6 months over spring session from July - Dec)
- one in the fourth year (6 months over autumn session from Jan - July).
