Science Indigenous Scholarship

To provide financial support to Aboriginal and\or Torres Strait Islander students who are undertaking a UTS undergraduate Science degree.

To be eligible for the Scholarship, a candidate must meet all of the following criteria:

• be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide either:

  • a Confirmation of Aboriginality from a Local Aboriginal Land Council or other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or

  • a UTS Statutory Declaration form accompanied by two written references from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from the applicant's community who can confirm their identity and are not an immediate family member; and

• Be enrolled or intending to enroll in an undergraduate course (including eligible double degrees) or a graduate certificate at the UTS in the Faculty of Science directly following the Scholarship selection; and

• Must complete an online Scholarship application form to be considered

• Applicants will be required to attend an interview.

Having met the eligibility criteria, the recipient will be selected based on the following criteria:

• Passion and/or interest for study in science
• Be culturally connected to their respective Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems
• Demonstrated life experience that contributes to the motivation to study science
• Clearly communicates a vision of where science may lead them after graduation
