Overview
This prize was established in 1994 in memory of the late Samuel Hugh Huxham, former Head of the
Statistics and Operations Research Unit, and is awarded to the student who achieves the best
performance in the Statistics major within a Science degree in the year for which the award is made.
Who is eligible
The Recipient must have completed the Bachelor of Science, Statistics major or Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences, Statistics and Data Science major in the year for which the award is made.
Selection process
Selection Criteria in Priority Order:
- The highest final overall WAM for all subjects in the degree.
- In the event that two or more eligible students have the same WAM, the following criteria will be considered:
a) Performance in the course outside of formal assessment that demonstrates mastery of and engagement in the subject;
b) Overall academic performance in the student's award course, including GPA, whether the student has failed other subjects, received academic cautions or had a finding of misconduct made against them.
