Overview

Nokia Solutions and Networks supports the increasing diversity of female students wanting to study within the S.T.E.M streams. To support this, and recognise the legacy of Nuala Ward, the Prize was established and supported by the business to recognise female students within the stream.

Who is eligible

To be eligible for the Prize, the applicant must: 

  • identify as a woman
  • be enrolled in one of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology bachelor courses, including combined courses
  • have completed a minimum of 36 credit points in the relevant academic year:
    • commencing Second Year: have completed 36-60 credit points overall
    • commencing Third Year: have completed 72-110 credit points overall
    • commencing Fourth Year: have completed 108-168 credit points overall
  • have a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 75 or greater at the time of application
  • apply online for this Prize using the UTS Application Form.

Applicants may be required to attend an interview in person or via Zoom. 

Selection process

Eligible applicants will be presented to the Selection Committee, which will undertake the selection of Recipients based on the above selection criteria.

The Selection Committee will consist of at least three (3) relevant members of the UTS community, chaired by the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (or their nominee). 

The successful Recipient will be authorised by the Chair of the Selection Committee (or their nominee).

Other information

Up to three (3) new recipients will be awarded the Prize each year, usually one 2nd year student, one 3rd year student and one 4th year student in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology course.
