Overview

The Ericsson Technology Scholarship was created to deepen and broaden Ericsson Australia’s pool of technology talent and provide applicants who are enrolled in the eligible Faculty of Engineering and IT courses an opportunity to undertake a work placement at Ericsson Australia.

Who is eligible

To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; and
  • Be enrolled full-time in one of the following UTS undergraduate degrees and relevant majors:
  • Bachelor of Information Technology Diploma in Industry Practice;
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Industry Practice majoring in Data Science, Electronic, Mechatronic or Software Engineering; and;
  • Have completed or will have completed minimum 96CPs in the course prior to internship commencement; and
  • Have not completed Professional Practice 1 or Professional Practice 2; and
  • Have achieved a minimum of Credit Average Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65 or above; and
  • All candidates must be available to attend an interview in person unless otherwise agreed;
  • Be available to start a placement in either Autumn or Spring session for the year the scholarship is awarded.

Selection process

Eligible applicants will be presented to the Scholarship Selection Committee, which will undertake the selection of Recipients based on the above selection criteria.

Applications of shortlisted candidates will be presented to Ericsson. Ericsson (or nominee) will chair an Interview Panel, conduct interviews, and a make a recommendation to the Scholarship Selection Committee. 

The Scholarship Selection Committee will be made up of at least three relevant members of the UTS community, chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (or their nominee), and is to include a member experienced in the selection of scholarships.

Offers will be authorised by the Chair of the Scholarship Selection Committee in line with the Scholarships and Prizes Policy.
