Overview

The Breville Australia Indigenous Product Design Scholarship aims to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent students who have the potential and commitment to study the Bachelor of Design in Product Design.

The Scholarship is supported by Breville Australia who is committed to increasing positive education and employment outcomes and creating opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People.

Who is eligible

To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide either:

    • a Confirmation of Aboriginality from a Local Aboriginal Land Council or other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or

    • a UTS Statutory Declaration form accompanied by two written references from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from the applicant's community who can confirm their identity and are not an immediate family member; and

  • Be enrolled full-time in the first or second year of one of the following UTS courses:
    • Bachelor of Design in Product Design (C10304)
    • Bachelor of Design in Product Design Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation (C10323)
    • Bachelor of Design in Product Design Bachelor of International Studies (C10305).
  • For second year students:
    • Have achieved a Pass average (50+ WAM) in their chosen Bachelor of Design in Product Design course
    • Have successfully completed a minimum of 36 credit points, or equivalent, in their chosen Bachelor of Design in Product Design course
  • All applicants must apply using the UTS online Scholarship Application form to be eligible.
  • All applicants may need to attend an interview in person (either Face-to- Face or via Zoom) at the discretion of the selection committee.

Selection process

Eligible applicants will be presented to the Scholarship Selection Committee, which will undertake the selection of Recipients based on the below selection criteria.

As demonstrated in the scholarship application and interview:

  • Passion for and motivation to succeed in UTS course and pursue a career in Product Design;
  • Initiative to seek opportunities to continually advance their professional and personal lives;
  • Alignment of values, goals and culture with those of Breville Australia
  • Interest and motivation to succeed in the Breville Australia internship and graduate programs;
  • Academic merit (based on ATAR, qualification as the basis of admission or WAM in UTS course to date)
