Overview
To recognise an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student enrolled in a UTS Law award course (undergraduate or postgraduate), who demonstrates leadership in their community, the Faculty of Law and/or within the university.
Who is eligible?
The Recipient must:
- be enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Laws combined degree, Juris Doctor or a Juris Doctor combined degree in the UTS Faculty of Law in the year for which the award is
made; - be identified and recognised as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and
provide either:- a Confirmation of Aboriginality from a Local Aboriginal Land Council or other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or
- a UTS Statutory Declaration form accompanied by two written references from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from the applicant’s community who can confirm their identity and are not an immediate family member; and
be currently in their penultimate or final year of study;
- have maintained an academic grade of Credit (WAM 65 +) or higher.
- Students will need to fill in a UTS online application form and provide evidence of their academic performance to date.
Selection process
Applications of shortlisted candidates will be presented to a Prize Selection Panel, which will undertake the selection of the Recipient.
The selection panel will be made up of the Faculty of Law’s Associate Dean (Indigenous Leadership and Engagement) (Chair), the Director of Students, and the Donor.
