The Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS:ACRI) hosted H.E. Xiao Qian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to Australia, to deliver a keynote address on Australia-PRC relations. Following the address, Ambassador Xiao was interviewed by UTS:ACRI Director Professor James Laurenceson. The event concluded with audience Q&A.
Entering his fifth year as the PRC's representative to Australia, Ambassador Xiao shared his perspectives on recent developments in the bilateral relationship and discussed key issues shaping its trajectory.

About the speaker
H.E. Xian Qian
Ambassador Xiao Qian is the current Chinese ambassador to Australia, in office since January 2022. Previously he served as Chinese ambassador to Indonesia (2017 - 2021) and before that, Chinese ambassador to Hungary (2012 - 2015).

Professor James Laurenceson
Professor James Laurenceson is Director of the Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS:ACRI). His research interests relate to the Chinese economy and the Australia-China economic and broader relationship.
