Wear It Purple Day celebrates and supports LGBTQIA+ youth, encouraging schools, workplaces and communities to show rainbow young people they are seen, valued and safe. The 2026 theme, ‘Colours of Courage’, celebrates the many forms of courage shown every day by LGBTQIA+ young people, allies and communities.

Everyone knows what’s wrong with the world. The harder question is what should be done? Five speakers take the stage to present the one idea they believe could most improve humanity’s future. From geopolitics and democracy to culture, community, freedom and meaning, each offers a different vision of what a better world could look like.

Throughout September, Global Goals Month brings the UTS community together to explore how research, teaching and action contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with researcher talks, hands-on workshops, a photography competition and an interactive exhibition in Building 1 Foyer.

What can we learn from partnerships that deliver real results, and why do others fall short? Join us to explore how strong relationships, trust and institutions can turn climate commitments into meaningful action and impact in the lead up to COP31.

14 October

Join University of Cambridge’s Gary Gerstle as he explores the forces reshaping global economies and their impact on democracy, institutions and everyday life. A panel will examine what these shifts mean locally for policy, economic reform, inequality, work and social change. Proudly presented by the Ultimo Institute.
