Study Abroad and Exchange SOUL Badge

The Study Abroad and Exchange SOUL Badge is a curated extra-curricular volunteering and social leadership program for offshore Study Abroad and Exchange students.

Skill up, give back and make change

Through volunteering experiences and workshops that focus on ethical leadership, social issues and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, you’ll venture beyond your degree and into the community.

You’ll receive regular communications, connecting you with like-minded students, sharing other SOUL stories, and highlighting online volunteering opportunities.

When you complete the Study Abroad and Exchange SOUL Badge you will receive a certificate and a LinkedIn recommendation as well as volunteering and training workshops you can include on your CV.

Register for the Study Abroad and Exchange SOUL Badge

Registrations for the Study Abroad and Exchange SOUL Badge are open until 18 March 2022.

Register on UTS CareerHub

This program is only available to offshore Study Abroad and Exchange students. Onshore students an sign up for the SOUL Badge instead.

Program requirements

To receive the Study Abroad and Exchange SOUL Badge, you will need to complete the following by 30 May 2022:

1. Thirty-five hours of volunteering

Volunteer online or in your local community with not for profit organisations that support the Sustainable Development Goals. Please check our volunteering policy for more detail on which organisations may be counted.

Students who work with an Australian not-for-profit as part of a subject with UTS Shopfront, can count those hours towards the SOUL badge. Subjects for 2022 include:

  • Socially Responsive Design
  • Management Consulting (undergraduate): 21228 
  • Product Innovation Management: 24742
  • Marketing Decision Making: 24834

2. Complete the ethical leadership online module

Complete our self-paced ethical leadership online module. This module is designed to develop understanding of how you can lead with purpose and integrity in your personal and professional life.

Proof of module completion is submitted online, via your workflow on CareerHub.

Your workflow is your personalised website for the UTS SOUL Award. You will use your workflow to access workshop bookings, log volunteer hours and monitor your progress through the program.

3. Complete the 'Social Issues 101 & the UN SDGs' workshop

Join us for an interactive two-hour online workshop exploring social issues and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We run multiple sessions throughout the semester, scheduled to suit various time zones.

Book upcoming workshops on CareerHub. Please note that spaces are limited. We recommend booking early for your preferred time and date.

If you complete these requirements by 30 May 2022, you will be eligible to receive your UTS Study Abroad and Exchange SOUL Badge Certificate and LinkedIn recommendation.
