
The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) will spearhead the creation of the Australia-Vietnam Strategic Technologies Centre, with support from Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology. This groundbreaking partnership is set to transform next-generation connectivity and cybersecurity.
The new centre will be a state-of-the-art research hub fostering collaboration between Australia and Vietnam in strategic technologies and cybersecurity, particularly focusing on 5G and emerging 6G technologies.
Nokia, through the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC), will provide connectivity across the new centre, which will be situated in the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) in Hanoi.

Brendan Dowling, Australia's Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology, highlighted that the initiative will place both nations at the forefront of global connectivity while driving economic growth, security, and digital inclusion.
"Aligned with the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, this research centre aims to enhance collaboration on strategic technologies, including the potential of 5G and 6G. It will drive digital transformation, encourage technological and industry innovation, and strengthen international cyber stability in our shared region," Mr. Dowling said.
