Showcasing UTS’s Best New Writers
The UTS Writers' Anthology: Light the Lanterns features the best new fiction, non-fiction, scripts and poetry from the University of Technology Sydney's creative writing program.
This collection offers works inspired by lived and imagined experiences of human trial and resilience. The anthology showcases emerging creative talent and features deeply human tales ranging from hanging out the laundry and competing with an obsessive neighbour to fighting cancer and escaping an active warzone.
The difference between UTS and other creative writing programs is that the students take themselves seriously. They are there because they mean it. They are already writers. To that, Light the Lanterns is testimony.
Of the many anthologies coming out of university writing programs, the annual UTS collection has always been the standout.
The foreword to Light the Lanterns was written by Penni Russon, author of the Undine trilogy and The Endsister. Light the Lanterns is the result of hard work and commitment from the author contributors, the student-led editorial committee, UTS staff and the team at Brio Books.
