50240 Introduction to Social Inquiry
8cp; elective
Professional Strand - Social Inquiry and Change - 100 level

This subject introduces students to the variety of ways of seeing the social world and how people order and analyse what we see. As professionals, students need to develop an understanding of the diverse approaches to the collection and interpretation of social experiences: within and across disciplines, cultures, gender and time. How do power differences affect people? How do they describe and explain societies? Students are encouraged to explore and question their own experiences and their abilities to observe, sort and organise what they see, including indigenous and other non-European perspectives.
