Subject lists and descriptions

Courses offered in the Faculty draw from subjects from 100 level to 500 level. Bachelor’s degree courses normally consist of subjects from 100 level to 300 level. Subjects for the Honours degrees are 400 level. Courses in Graduate programs generally consist of subjects from 200 to 500 level with Master’s degree courses requiring students to complete some subjects at 500 level.

The subject descriptions indicate the subject code and name and the number of credit points for the subject (e.g. 8cp). Online timetable information is available at:

http://timetable.uts.edu.au

For some subjects there may also be practical components off campus, and this is indicated in the text. Also shown are the prerequisites, corequisites and antirequisites, if any, and a brief outline of the content.

A prerequisite is a subject that must be completed before taking the subject for which it is a prerequisite. A corequisite is a subject that may be completed before or concurrently with the subject for which it is a corequisite. An antirequisite is a subject with substantially overlapping content as another subject and which therefore cannot be undertaken by a student for credit-point value.

Subjects may be offered every semester, every year, or in a few cases every second year. Classes proceed in a given semester only when there is sufficient demand. The Faculty reserves the right to cancel a class or a subject if it considers that it is not viable.
