Sister Alphonsa's research involved improving the quality of patient care in an acute care hospital in India.

"I have gained leaderships skills that have helped me set up a quality improvement program. By applying action research and improving the hand washing practices of nurses, the surgical wound infection rate has been reduced by fifty percent. This has been made possible through my research studies at UTS. Excellent supervision, library and transport facilities and the various workshops arranged by the university have also helped me to study with much greater ease. I really feel very privileged for being a student of this university. The faculty's academic and support staff are friendly, dedicated, welcoming and eager to make studying at UTS an unforgettable experience."
