Tom is a Practitioner Lecturer in the Graduate Diploma of Australian Migration Law and is based in the Gold Coast.
Tom was admitted to the Legal Profession in Queensland in October 2010. He earned first Law degree at Griffith University and later completed a Graduate Diploma in Law at Bond University. His legal qualifications have been accredited in Canada and are held with the British Columbia Law Society.
Tom administers and delivers the Migration Institute of Australia's flagship Practice Ready Program for newly registered migration agents and immigration lawyers. Tom is especially well suited to teach UTS Migration Law students practical skills because of his involvement with the MIA and current work in professional practice.
Originally from Canada, Tom migrated to Australia from Japan in 1994 on the basis of his Japanese language teaching skills.
In academic roles in the (former) Australian National Univeristy Graduate Certificate program, Tom won multiple awards for teaching excellence.
Tom was the 2018 winner of the Migration Institute of Australia's award for outstanding contribution in the area of CPD or Education.
