"You are serving a customer, not a life sentence. Learn how to enjoy your work." Laurie McIntosh
Qualifications: “I'm a life-long learner. I earned my most recent degree in 2012 – a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from (where else!) UTS.”
Jacqui leads a dedicated team of enablers who support UTS students manage the business of being students. Student Administration Unit (SAU) is the backbone of the University. The team is an impressive group of subject matter experts committed to delivering top-shelf services and solutions to two key stakeholder groups - students and Faculties. Spanning admissions, timetabling, enrolments, fees, scholarships, exams, progressions, graduations, and enquiry management, the staff that make up the Team SAU provide a valuable service to students on behalf of the Faculties (and UTS more broadly).
Jacqui believes you can learn a lot from being the eldest child – leading teams (“that was too LBW”), applying brand and style guidelines (“you can’t use a purple crayon on wallpaper with the red flowers”), timetabling ("I'll do my homework after Young Doctors"), sustainability ("Mum and Dad didn't raise us in a barn you know"), service excellence ("Dad wants another beer Mum"), compliance ("um-ah - I'm dobbing"), budget management (“Dad says pocket money doesn’t grow on trees”).
Prior to joining SAU, Jacqui spent more than eight years leading the University's marketing and communication effort. She has been in the Australian Higher Education sector for almost a decade, which followed more than 20 years in the financial services sector (Australia and abroad).
In her own time, Jacqui likes to hang out with family and friends, write, take dog naps with her pooches on the sofa and rename the colours in the Dulux range. “My life is rich with extracurricular pursuits!” She is a huge fan of The Walking Dead. Jacqui is working on her first novel (don't hold your breath) and gathering plenty of material for a sitcom she intends to pitch to the ABC in the not too distant future titled Losing Ones Faculties.
