Ian is a PhD candidate at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, his research is examining the role of strength based approaches (SBAs) in sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in a majority world context. His research aims to inform NGO practice in the role of SBAs in the citizen led WASH systems.
For the past 15 years Ian has worked as an environmental engineer and at the nexus of engineering and international development within the NGO sector in Australia, South and South East Asia. He has particular experience in partnerships and capacity development in WASH, however his project and program experience is across a variety of disciplines often with appropriate technology, facilitation and change processes at its heart.
