Workshops for casual academics new to UTS
Saturday 14 March to Friday 20 March 2015
A series of workshops specifically designed for casual academics new to UTS, including casual tutors and demonstrators, will be offered from Saturday 14 March to Friday 20 March 2015 by the Institute for Interactive Media and Learning (IML). These workshops provide important professional development opportunities early in semester and an introduction to teaching and learning in the context of the UTS strategic priorities.

Each casual academic who enrols in the program can be paid to attend up to two (2) workshops and priority is given to casual academics who are new to UTS, or have not participated previously. Workshops fill quickly so participants need to register soon to avoid disappointment.
UTS Casual Academics Conference

Casual academics attended the annual UTS Casual Academics Conference. The conference focussed on taking Learning2014 to the next level. Learning2014 is our strategic future-focused learning initiative that utilises innovative face-to-face and online approaches to provide the best learning experiences for UTS students. As well as a keynote presentation by Professor Shirley Alexander, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education and Students) the Conference offered a range of activities that examined different aspects of teaching and learning at UTS for Learning2014 and beyond. These included:

• Experts on hand to answer your questions
• A plenary session focused 'Learning2014 at the coal face'
• A chance to enter and win our flipped learning competition.

Workshops for Casual Academics
Following the success of the Learning2014 Festival, encore events were held for casual academics. The two day program provided opportunities for casual academics to engage with some of the innovative approaches to learning showcased at the recent UTS Learning2014 Festival. The Learning2014 initiative takes advantage of advances in technology and insights into learning to enable students to experience a seamless integration of the best of online and face-to-face on campus learning.
