Benjamin Balzer joined UTS in July 2016 as a Postdoc. Prior to joining UTS, Benjamin completed his PhD at the University of Mannheim in Germany. His research interest lies in the intersection between Mechanism Design, Game Theory and Information Economics. In particular he is interested in mechanisms or institutions being designed to avoid the costs induced by non-cooperative situations. Examples include the optimal design of Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in the shadow of litigation and the analysis of how the auction format shapes the characteristics of bidder collusion.
