Media Transition Doctoral Scholarship

UTS is offering scholarships to research the effects and implications of disruption and transition in the media sector. Students will work with the new Centre for Media Transition, an interdisciplinary unit established by UTS in July 2017 to explore and develop responses to the dramatic and ongoing movements wrought by digital disruption to the media industry.

To encourage interdisciplinary research, the scholarships are being offered as a joint initiative of the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, and the Connected Intelligence Centre. Candidates will be enrolled through one of the faculties but will work on an interdisciplinary project. Candidates’ research topics need not directly cross all these disciplines, but preference will be given to proposals that include elements from at least two disciplines.

The successful applicants will be given research supervision, support and training, and will be expected to take part in the research life of the Centre by attending seminars and workshops. There will also be opportunities for paid casual work and professional development, such as tutoring and research assistance.

The successful candidate will be awarded $27,000 per annum over 4 years. All scholarships at UTS are dependent upon ongoing satisfactory academic progress.
