Developing your five-year research plan
Delivered by Associate Professor Andrew Barron (ARC Future Fellow, and Deputy Head of the Department of Biological Sciences at Macquarie University), this seminar and following hands-on session will provide you with some tools that will help you to identify what it is you want to do, and how you can plan to give yourself the greatest chance of hitting your research targets.
Andrew has presented this seminar numerous times over the past five years and it is always well-received. His insights and advice can provide direction and clarity of purpose for anyone interested in strategically planning their research direction, at any career stage and regardless of discipline.
The schedule will follow:
- 12:30–1pm
Lunch … and a little bit of networking - 1–2pm
Andrew Barron presentation — bring a pen and paper, or even a laptop - 2–3pm
A session where you can implement the tips and strategies outline by Andrew and commence working on your own five-year research plan. The opportunity will be available to work on your own, or work peer to peer. Coffee/tea will be provided across this session. This will not result in a polished research plan, but it should give you the opportunity to sketch out a framework.
