Distinguished Visiting Scholars – July 2019
We are delighted to be hosting two visiting scholars in our Centre in Spring, 2019: Dr. Sue Cranmer (Lancaster Uni, UK); A/Prof Ruurd Taconis (Eindhoven, The Netherlands). Their visits will form part of ongoing and growing collaborations between UTS and these two KTP universities. Dr. Cranmer is PI on our recently submitted Australian Research Council Discovery application led by our Centre titled: Smart Education in Schools of the Future: Transforming Practice.
Distinguished Visitor Scholar – March 2019
Professor Merrilyn Goos from University of Limerick visited in March 2019 to engage in close collaborations and partnerships with Centre members. Professor Goos is recognised as a world leading authority in Mathematics education and is Director of EPI*STEM, the National Centre for STEM Education, at the University of Limerick, Ireland. As a Distinguished Visiting Scholar, Professor Goos shared her expertise to increase the excellence, impact and reputation of the Centre, both nationally and internationally. Associate Professor Anne Prescott hosted Professor Goos during her four-week visit in March 2019.
Featured Case study article – Dr Jane Hunter
The Centre for Social Impact at UTS recently featured Dr. Jane Hunter and her work on High Possibility Classrooms Framework as a case study in Education, to highlight the impact the framework is making in NSW primary schools. The framework support teachers to develop rich units of work and to get primary students’ engaged and switched on about STEM. Read the High Possibility Classrooms Framework article.
