The International Research Centre for Youth Futures at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Australia Piano Quartet (APQ), Ensemble in Residence, present the inaugural UTS MusEd program based on new Australian repertoire. The Resource Kit, Premiere Concert at Sydney Opera House and series of practical educational workshops have been developed by highly-skilled, experienced music educators Robyn Staveley, Peta Harper, Australia Piano Quartet and celebrated composers Ross Edwards, Elena Kats-Chernin, Lachlan Skipworth and Jack Symonds.
The UTS MusEd Resource Kit is a comprehensive and innovative teaching tool designed to develop connected, social, emotional and intellectual music knowledge and appreciation. The Kit assists teachers and students to meet the syllabus (HSC Music Courses 1, 2 & Extension with content applicable to Stage 5 music) requirements in a practice based and fully integrated way featuring; key lesson plans, repertoire, video tutorials and techniques in performance, listening and composition.
This program provides it all; from all the teaching materials and how to teach them, to opportunities to speak to the composers and players of a professional, small ensemble, and all within one week. This will be a great kick start for the deep immersion into Australian repertoire.
