ISF postgraduate scholarships
ISF will, on occasion, have opportunities to offer postgraduate research scholarships outside of its traditional application process.
When these opportunities are available and open for applications, details will be posted on this page.
A prestigious PhD scholarship is available at the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF), University of Technology Sydney (UTS), in circular models for batteries. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of sustainability, stewardship and resource recovery in the lithium ion battery industry.
The PhD project is part of the Australian Research Council’s Industrial Transformation Research Hub (ITRH) on “microrecycling of battery and consumer wastes”, being led by the University of New South Wales. The ARC ITRH is intended to address the complex issues faced by the new battery industries in responsibly managing batteries at end of life, and train the future workforce to deliver real-world impact on sustainability challenges. The ITRH facilitates collaborative approaches to research with the involvement of a range of top-ranked universities across Australia, UK and the Netherlands, as well as industry partners.
The successful candidate will be hosted by ISF at UTS and receive a stipend of AUD$33,880 tax-free per annum for three years. This opportunity is available to full-time applicants who are Australian citizens or permanent residents. The successful applicant should begin in early 2021.
First round applications close 30 September 2020.
