CLAIR Forum: Innovative regional tourism policies
How can innovative regional policies bolster tourism? Hear examples of successful approaches from Japan and Australia at the annual CLAIR local government forum in Newcastle.
The Japanese government has set an ambitious goal for its tourism industry: 40 million overseas visitors annually by the year 2020, and is implementing various measures to this end. In addition, each region is carrying out separate distinctive initiatives accordingly.
The UTS Centre for Local Government, based at the Institute for Public Policy and Governance, is delighted to be working with the Japan Local Government Centre to present the annual CLAIR Forum in Newcastle. This year the theme of one-day seminar explores the innovative approaches to regional policies on tourism, in the hope that it will be of benefit to local governments in regional Australia.
