In the purpose-driven world of the 21st century, increasing pressure to realise the full potential of human performance requires constant innovation by sport and health industry. The Human Performance Research Centre’s philosophy of embedded research combines the fast-paced and intuitive work of sports practitioners with the more measured and deliberate work of researchers to conduct rigorous, innovative and practically relevant research that provides authentic solutions to industry problems.
In collaboration with industry partners, the Human Performance Research Centre combines the methodological rigor of researchers with the skills and experience of coaches and athletes to conduct well-designed studies that provide industry partners with results that can be implemented directly into practice. Embedded within industry, our researchers regularly assess current practices and provide an evidence base to support the fast, intuitive decision-making of coaches and staff in the field. Our direct interaction with athletes and coaches allows our researchers to see problems as they appear and identify the environmental constraints that may limit the translation of findings from traditional research studies.
Our unique approach, breadth of expertise, and responsiveness to current problems in sport and exercise enable us to make a positive impact on elite sporting performance and promote the application of sport and physical activity as a vehicle for achieving optimal health. With our experts in other fields such as engineering, business, and design, we maximises opportunities for transdisciplinary innovation. Our state-of-the-art facilities in the UTS Rugby Australia building at Moore Park allow us to take advantage of continued technological advancements and remain ahead of the game in high-performance sport and health research.
