CISCO-SAS IoT Innovation Lab projects
IoT data fabric and analytics for agile trading of distributed energy resources
Tomorrow’s smart energy grid will be a constellation of many generation sources working together. This shift to decentralisation has created an urgent need for new business models and enabling technologies. UTS, CISCO and SAS collaborated to trial the feasibility and economic benefits of DER aggregation and real-time energy brokerage in a residential framework, focusing on the operation and trading of PV solar panel energy. We proved that leveraging IoT, real-time distributed data and analytics can enable DER trading, thus reducing costs, maintaining profits, fueling better decision making and providing a pathway to grow national energy security.
DeepCare
Each year, three million seniors are treated in emergency departments for fall-related injuries, while one in four older adults has a fall. Our AIoT-based revolutionary DeepCare device uses SAS ESP@edge and deep learning technologies to process radar streaming data to detect seniors’ activities, including falling. The 24/7 solution is non-invasive, 100 per cent automatic, lighting-independent and privacy-guaranteed.
Smart lighting
BoscoLighting’s Connected Car Park Lighting solution is AI-enabled both at the edge and cloud, and can enhance user experience through constant learning and improvement of performance. An open and AI-enabled IoT platform supporting research, learning and teaching at UTS with historical and real-time data, it is advancing design and development capabilities for future smart lighting technologies with interface to other systems for a range of customers.
