The Centre for Midwifery, Child and Family Health (CMCFH) houses a passionate team of leading thinkers in midwifery, child and family health, children’s nursing and adolescent health. We integrate research, education and practice to improve the health of childbearing women, children, young people and families. Our pursuit of excellence and leadership in research, education, practice development and consultancy is demonstrated in our broad range of research projects, our impact on practice and policy development and our collaboration with healthcare and professional organisations that span across the local and international landscape.
Here at the CMCFH, we have an enthusiastic and vibrant research community which generates outstanding, high impact research dedicated to strengthening and supporting women, children, young people and families. We are committed to producing high quality research that focuses on changing policy and systems for vulnerable populations and improving outcomes for indigenous women, children and adolescents. We also develop workforce capacity and practice for nurses, midwives and other health professionals.
Our team has played a pivotal role in establishing midwifery-led care, improved child and family health services and developing academia in Australia. As the first university in NSW to commence a Bachelor of Midwifery degree in 2006, today we offer a broad range of highly acclaimed study opportunities to our undergraduates, including our Graduate Certificate in Child and Family Health Nursing in collaboration with Tresillian Family Care Centres.
Our research degrees and programs of research help develop the knowledge and practice understandings that underpin our undergraduate courses. We offer comprehensive seminars, training and masterclass events, as well as provide ongoing supervision and advice from our experienced supervisors to our research students undertaking PhD, Masters by Research and Honours.
We are extremely proud of, not only of how much we have grown, but also of the incredible work we continue to do. Welcome. Explore our website. Get in touch with us.
