Sydney and UTS chosen to play host to the world’s forensics
More than 1,500 forensic scientists from around the globe will descend on Sydney when the city hosts the profession’s 22nd triennial conference.
The Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS) and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) will lead the event, to be held at the new international convention centre in Darling Harbour.
UTS Professor of Forensic Science Claude Roux, who led the Sydney bid, was also announced as the new president of the International Association of Forensic Sciences (IAFS) at its conference in Toronto, Canada.
The IAFS is a not-for-profit association that connects academics and practising professionals in the forensic community around the world. Professor Roux is only the second Australian since 1987 to hold the office.
