Nearly 1000 organisations have participated in the MPM study, conducted every two years since 2003. Each 'wave' of the study provides updated understanding of the ‘best practices’ for project portfolio management (the elements that are associated with success). The latest study investigates multiple aspects of modern multi-project management - these include established success factors as well as new themes such as digital transformation, agile practices and the use of visualisations.

About the presenter:
Dr Catherine Killen is an Associate Professor at the University of Technology Sydney. Catherine’s research focuses on project portfolio management and she has published more than 60 journal articles, book chapters and conference papers in this area. Her current research themes include the relationship between governance, innovation, strategy and the project portfolio; the role of visualisations in portfolio decision making; organisational capabilities for survival in dynamic environments; and the management of project interdependencies within a project portfolio.
This seminar is hosted by the Built Environment Informatics and Innovation (BEII) research centre (contributing to themes on ‘Comprehensive concepts of value’ and ‘Emergent industrial processes’); the Centre for Business and Social Innovation (CBSI), (contributing to the theme on ‘The Future of Work, Organising and the Corporation’); and the Project portfolio management special interest group (PPM SIG). The PPM SIG is a networking forum for industry practitioners and researchers to share experiences and information and to promote educational activities and research relating to Project Portfolio Management.
