Crafting Papers for Publication
An event sponsored by the Journal of Management Studies and UTS.
Publishing in high-profile, high-impact, academic journals has become increasingly challenging. Despite the conventions about what constitutes a strong theoretical contribution, publishing academic research inevitably takes the shape of a craft that authors (as well as editors and reviewers alike) frequently (and quite often painfully) learn by doing.
As part of its mission to support the development of doctoral students and junior faculty, the Journal of Management Studies will hold a PDW to help researchers improve their understanding of the expectations of editorial teams at top journals. The event will take place at UTS and will be led by Professor Gerardo Patriotta, General Editor of JMS.
The workshops will place a particular emphasis on the craft of writing and on strategies for successful publishing. They will include editorial presentations, interactive sessions, as well as focused discussions on key topics related to publishing. You will also have the opportunity to discuss your research in one-to-one meetings with editors
The workshop will run from 10.00 to 12.00 on Friday, April 5, 2019. Participation in the workshop is free of charge, and everybody is welcome to attend.
We are excited about this initiative and we look forward to hosting Professor Gerardo Patriotta to share his editorial experience on academic writing and the review process.
