The Centre for Autonomous Systems provides a wealth of opportunities for research students. By studying with us, you will study with internationally acclaimed robotics experts, and gain access to world leading robotics theories and technologies. You will also play a key role in a range of innovative projects that solve pressing commercial and social problems.
Our centre is home to an entrepreneurial culture that encourages excellence in research. As a CAS research student, you will be exposed to the vast opportunities that a research career has to offer. Many of our research students and fellows have gone on to achieve great things in the international robotics field:
- Research fellow Dr Steven Webb and research engineers Greg Peters and David Rushton Smith joined SABRE Autonomous Solutions
- Research fellow Dr Marc Carmichael received a Research in Business award for a collaboration with Burwell Technologies
- Former PhD student Dr Ashod Donikian set up a robotics company in Silicon Valley after successfully raising venture capital in the USA. Dr Donikian now employs two CAS graduates
- Former PhD student Dr Damith Herath raised funds through crowd-funding for a home robot in 2013
CAS is actively seeking students with an interest in robotics research to undertake a postgraduate research degree in our centre. Interested students should review our staff listing and make contact with a prospective supervisor before applying.
