tech + analysis + archives
HistoryLab is an initiative of the Australian Centre for Public History. It is a space for historians and cultural institutions to experiment with ways of using digital technology to analyse and tell stories about the past. The various projects it showcases are collaborations between UTS academics and a variety of researchers and partner organisations.
HistoryLab projects utilise digital technologies both as a method of analysis and as an engagement platform. Helping researchers ask new questions about historical sources and datasets, digital tools can also facilitate the collaboration with a wide range of cultural practitioners as well as communication with broad audiences. As such, digital tools are becoming ever more crucial not only to the public history and cultural sectors, but also to community groups, school teachers, academic historians and those in industries concerned with making sense of data.
